THE SERIE

We recently enjoyed  ‘Bridgerton’, a period drama series based on the Julia Quinn books . Once again for those of us who like  styling and decoration, we have enjoyed observing the opulence in the enrichment of the palaces where the main families live.

Bridgerton’s first season takes us back to the Regency era of London’s affluent early 19th-century. It introduces us to the Bridgerton family that gives the series its title and they are aristocrats of ancient ancestry. The family consists of of eight siblings (four boys and four girls) and their mother.   There are also the  Featheringtons, nouveau riche who are willing  to climb the social ladder.

WITHOUT FEAR OF COLOR

The walls full of mouldings and ceiling friezes  provided  elegance which really attracted my attention.  They were not afraid of using colour and  yet at the same time they followed the  theme  of elegance that was so ornate by using heavily patterned papers and gold details such as hanging mirrors which were so fashionable in the 19th century.

It should be noted that each protagonist family is assigned a colour palette in the decoration of walls and furniture. It is observed that the Bridgertons have cold and muted colours , blues and turquoise, always with bees  somewhere. On the other hand,  the Featheringtons  use more striking and vivid colours  like yellow or light green, with  a butterfly in the background as a symbol of the family.

EMPIRE STYLE FURNITURE

I imagined myself dressed in those fantastic pieces of organza, tulle, velvet, embroidery or feathers, walking through  the long corridors and observing in detail the secrets of the sisters entering  the majestic rooms with those wooden side tables, Louis XVI style chairs or and upholstered pieces which were all part of the decorative show.

Sofas with floral prints, so British, shiny velvets, simply elegant. Timeless furniture so present in each of its rooms and which evoke so much class in comparison to our current houses.

Bridgerton invites you to sit down and enjoy a cup of tea with any of the family members. Armchairs with personality, classic style, ideal for a good read.

In the bedroom, a headboard with gilding, or carved wood,  you can even add a canopy to enhance a vintage feeling.

Endless decorative clues that we can use to adapt our current homes with exquisite taste and not to  forget flowers for freshness and a zest for life . Use all the glass elements and the magical light of the candles to give an exclusive atmosphere.

Are you tempted to embrace  the Regency style?
