I don’t know if the same thing happens to you? Every time I get on a plane, with the best of my intentions, I take an international newspaper to make myself look interesting, but despite my best intentions, after 4 lines, I fall asleep like many other  passengers around me who surely had the same intention as me …

Joking aside, I have always liked reading, I alternate between different genres, historical, romantic, but if I have to choose one, I opt for the crime novel. If I have to choose my favourite inspector, I would choose Miss Marple, that aged single woman endearing + subtle who perceives everything that happens around her + analyses the feelings + motivations of people while knitting in the solitude of her home.

As I have mentioned in my previous posts, my mind moves very easily into the different scenarios which the book narrates and all the scenarios which appear throughout each of the novels. I invite Miss Marple to accompany me.

Dressed in her old-fashioned suit and felt hat, to any of the places where her research is carried out, whether it is the typical  country house with thick stone walls in rural England or the small + mythical Hotel Bertram (today Browns Hotel) in London. This old fashioned hotel, decorated with an exquisite taste which brings together all the elements of the English tradition as hancrafted artefacs and wallpapers by English designers  where you can still stay today after being renovated + adapted to current times but without losing its very British essence.

I find the ability of some places admirable to be able to evolve and adapt to new times without losing their soul + character. I will always imagine Miss Marple at tea time + accompanied by those excellent English sweets observing those present and their reactions.

To be able to imagine and experiencethe different decorative environments through reading Agatha Christie’s Miss Marple, this adorable + acute elderly lady detective makes my trips more enjoyable + entertaining.
