A couple of months ago, my cousin called me asking for advice on a little restyling she wanted to do at her house. With great pleasure, I met with her, first to drink a tasty coffee and catch up on each other’s lives… we hadn’t seen each other for a long time. Returning to my roots, feeling the smell of wax from the shiny wooden stairs, brought back many very good memories from my childhood…

She has a sheltered apartment where she lives with her two teens and she wanted advice how to restore some order in different rooms and hallway. Nothing had been done for a really long time, you know with small children, decoration is not a priority in our lives.

The walls were painted in different colors, brown, green, beige, the colors of the furniture were not uniform throughout the entire flat and did not really match, which generated a feeling of being overwhelmed.

I recommended to paint  the complete flat in white  just to achieve a greater luminosity and that a stroke of color would be given with some special wallpaper on a specific wall. In her room, as the bed does not have a headboard, it was a good option to place a good resistant, durable, modern raffia paper that would not only protect the wall but  would create warmth  in the room at the same time.

The rest of the white furniture with straight lines,  an L-shaped built-in wardrobe and a bespoke desk creating a equal storage and study space were decorated with a chair, lamp and mirror to complete this Korner. And not to forget as always, use essential elements such a cozy textured bedspread,  velvet cushions, a nice vase with dried flowers and books, many books… light, simple and bright to finish it off.

The truth is that it was a pleasant, enjoyable and really different afternoon where the ideas and tastes of both of us were mixed up to create something practical, functional but above all nice and cozy.
