For me, bookshops as well as libraries have always been magical places where you can breathe a lot of peace. For those of us who like to read, visiting old bookshops bring an extra charm+fascination.
I remember those queues that I used to do as child with my mother in the Ayerbe bookstore in Eibar to get the books for the new schools year. That smell of a new book as well as the cri-cri of the noise of the dark woods on the floor of the comings+goings of the bookseller that I have so internalized.
In my opinion, the paper book preserves the magic of design, color, texture, smell and personally I could not replace it with any digital technology even if it is much lighter to take in a bag. In addition, no one can question that the book is one of those decorative essential elements that brings warmth to the room !
The « Donosti » bookstore is my particular cultural oasis. It is one of those places that invites you to stick your head if you are in the surroundings.
A charming two-floor bookstore that is characterized by its vast fund. It not only stands out for its fantastic stained glass window+golden ceiling lamp in a Deco Art style chandelier, but for the striking way it shows the novelties on the facade of the building in a cork.
But what I really like is the 15 minutes of culture that Santi, one if its owners, offers you. His kindness, knowledge+professionalism is what I value.
The importance of going to the few but wonderful bookstores that we have left and accompany us in our towns+cities. That you Donosti Bookstore for not losing your essence !!
